Computer Information Systems and Telecommunications Management
After graduating from WMU with a BBA in Computer Information Systems and Telecommunications Management in 2004, Tom Delicati worked as a web developer for Awecomm Technologies in Southfield, MI getting a feel for the information technology industry. In 2005, he had the opportunity to take his recently gained experience to Briljent, a small technical writing firm in Fort Wayne, IN as technology director. This position allowed Tom to further his skills in a broad range of areas from custom web application development to server and network administration. Once again this stepping stone lead to further career advancement, which lead him to become the information systems manager at Ottenweller Company, a family-owned metal fabrication company that has been in business since 1916. Through this move, Tom has taken on the responsibilities of all technology administration for the four-building Fort Wayne campus as well as a satellite facility in Mount Airy, North Carolina. His daily tasks include training, design and implementation of new technology, technology support and beyond.
“I enjoy the fast-paced, demanding responsibility that comes along with a round-the-clock manufacturing environment,” says Tom. “Each new day provides different challenges and responsibilities and my experiences at Western has helped me succeed in such an environment.”
In addition to his work in information technology, Tom is also an active member of the Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI), a group of young professionals looking to make Northeast Indiana a great place to live, work, and play. This involves attending social and professional events throughout the community, and also participating in the YLNI Leadership Institute which is a five-session leadership training program. Tom enjoys his time giving back to the community, and it gives he and his wife Alison BA ’03, MA ’05 an opportunity to spread Bronco pride!
